Every day is a day to celebrate our amazing families, however we felt it was important to do something special for our Mum’s on Mother’s day.
On Friday 10th May we hosted a Mother’s Day Breakfast at Preschool. It was an early start, but we were fortunate to be joined by many of our wonderful Rangi Ruru Preschool Mum’s.
Having time together, supports children’s understandings of the connections between home and centre. Celebrating special events together strengthens a sense of belonging and community feeling for our children, their whanau and our teaching team.
Activities such as these are ways in which we embrace aspects of our Rangi Ruru Kaupapa for learning, for example: Manaakitanga (hospitality, kindness, generosity of spirit respect and support for others), Whanaungatanga (relationships, kinship, sense of family connection) and Kotahitanga (unity and togetherness).
Don’t worry Dad’s, your day will come too.
