Cooking with the children is a regular event, here at Rangi Ruru. Today’s baking involved baking biscuits in the shape of Planets, stars and other elements from the Solar System – a great tie in with some of the inquiry learning the children are driving at present.
Baking and other cooking activities are not just about making food, they are science in action; help to lay down basic mathematics skills; reading and time-telling skills; encourage healthy food choices; build confidence and creativity; enhance communication and build strong relationships with others and of course they provide all of us the opportunity for fun and laughter!
